DriveAssist is operated by Salina Labs. We build automotive software with a strict privacy by design architecture. This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, encryption, and deletion of personal data when you use the DriveAssist mobile application.
Zero-Knowledge Security: DriveAssist is built on a zero-knowledge security model. Your private contacts, custom voice aliases, and saved locations are encrypted on your physical device using hardware-backed AES-256 before any optional cloud synchronization. Salina Labs does not possess the keys to decrypt or read your vault data.
1. Device Permissions and Data Processing
DriveAssist requests specific Android system permissions strictly to deliver hands-free cockpit functionality. Here is how your data is handled:
- Location (GPS and Foreground Service): Used to calculate vehicle speed, display dashboard maps, execute navigation shortcuts, and automatically log your parking coordinates upon Bluetooth disconnection. Location histories remain stored locally in your on-device database and are never sold, rented, or tracked by third parties.
- Microphone and Audio: Used solely to process hands-free voice commands and wake-word detection while in driving mode. Audio signals are interpreted in real time using Android native on-device speech recognition. Raw voice recordings are never uploaded to remote servers or retained on disk.
- Device Address Book Contacts: DriveAssist accesses your local Android contacts strictly to display calling shortcuts and initiate phone calls at your request. Device contact names, telephone numbers, and email addresses are never transmitted to our servers or synced to the cloud. Only irreversible cryptographic one-way hashes are used locally for identity indexing.
- Secure Vault Contacts: DriveAssist provides an optional Secure Vault for private contacts. Vault contacts are stored in isolated application storage and are not accessible by external third-party apps or the Android system address book. When cloud synchronization is enabled, all Secure Vault details are encrypted with your personal master key on your device before transmission.
- Bluetooth and Vehicle Connectivity: Used to detect when your smartphone pairs with or disconnects from your vehicle hands-free system, enabling automatic driving mode transitions and automated parking spot recording.
2. Speech Recognition and Inactive AI Features
We believe in absolute transparency regarding artificial intelligence and voice processing:
- Active Voice Processing: Hands-free commands currently run through local Android speech recognition engines. DriveAssist does not stream audio feeds or transcripts to cloud-based artificial intelligence providers.
- Inactive AI Modules: Any code structures for future machine learning or intelligent driver co-pilot features remain dormant and disabled in this release. DriveAssist does not transmit driver telemetry, conversation logs, or personal preferences to external generative artificial intelligence platforms. If advanced machine learning features are activated in future releases, they will operate with explicit user consent and uphold our zero-knowledge framework.
3. Cloud Synchronization and Storage
Cloud synchronization is optional. If you create an account to back up your setup across multiple personal devices:
- Your vault data, voice aliases, and settings are encrypted locally using AES-256 prior to cloud upload.
- Encrypted data packets are securely transferred via HTTPS to Google Firebase Firestore infrastructure.
- Because encryption keys are generated on your hardware from your master password, Salina Labs cannot read, analyze, or monetize your synchronized backups.
4. Account Deletion and Data Rights
You maintain absolute ownership and control over your personal data:
- In-App Cloud Purge: You can purge all remote cloud backups at any time by navigating to Settings > Data Control > Purge Cloud Backups.
- In-App Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data directly inside the application. Navigate to Settings > Danger Zone > Permanently Delete Account. This immediately purges your cloud database records and deletes your authentication credentials.
- Web-Based Deletion Request: If you no longer have access to the app, you can request full account and data deletion by sending an email from your registered account to support@salinalabs.dev with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". All user identifiers and associated records will be permanently purged within 30 days.
Data Destruction Notice: Deleting your account is permanent. Because encryption keys are managed on-device, deleted cloud backups cannot be recovered by Salina Labs.
5. Third-Party Infrastructure Services
DriveAssist uses trusted infrastructure providers strictly for core application utilities:
- Google Firebase: Provides secure authentication and encrypted cloud database storage.
- Google Play Services: Powers mapping tiles and location services.
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription entitlements and receipt validation for optional Pro subscriptions. No unencrypted private contacts or location coordinates are shared with RevenueCat.
6. Children's Privacy
DriveAssist is an automotive application designed strictly for licensed motor vehicle operators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 16.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or application updates. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
